Rue des Blancs-Manteaux
The rue des Blancs-Manteaux was named for an order of monks that established itself there in 1258, making it one of the oldest extant streets in Europe. It lies in the heart of the Marais district, within a few blocks of the Hotel de Ville and the Centre Pompidou museum of modern art, and a short walk from the Seine, Notre Dame cathedral, the Bastille, the Ile-St-Louis, the Left Bank, and the Louvre. Its central location makes it ideal for tourism, and the quiet building and nearby markets of the rue Rambuteau provide a wonderful home base for longer stays. The apartment was completely renovated in 2007, and has a brand-new kitchen, large bathroom, and amenities such as cable TV, stereo, wireless high-speed internet, and a remote-controllable skylight.
